Chris Brockway, a noted California natural winemaker and owner of Broc Cellars, and Tim Elenteny, the libations logistics leader of Elenteny Imports, are the masterminds behind BREA Wine Company. The two seek to create wine that is beyond reproach by fostering close relationships with farmers and choosing vineyards known for their high- quality grapes. Their goal is to open minds back up to the classic grape varietals producing quality, affordable wines. The Brea Chardonnay comes from two vineyards in the Central Coast near Monterey with amazing granitic limestone rich soils and very cool climate which helps to maintain wonderful acidity in the grapes and offer nice minerality. This wine is made naturally, meaning no use of inoculated yeasts or bacteria. Only native yeast is used to spark fermentation. They do not add any powdered tannins or enzymes. A minimal dose of S02 is used. The wine ages 6 months in neutal French Oak barrels. This is a classic Chardonnay that is reminiscent of Chablis. Clean and pure flavors. It displays pear and citrus notes on the nose and delicious flavors of pineapple and apricots on the palate. Pair with grilled lemon-pepper chicken or baked white fish with grilled vegetables.
