Gaston Chiquet has made a name for itself as one of the best. In a region with thousands of small producers, it is a credit to owners Antoine and Nicolas Chiquet whose family first planted vines in 1746. This is a classic, blend of Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir coming from vineyards around the villages of Hautvillers, Dizy and Mareuil-sur-Ay. Clay, limestone and chalky soils giving the wine a nice mineral quality. This estate is certified as High Environmental Value and Sustainable Viticulture in Champagne. The wine ages on its lees for up to 3.5 years providing great complexity to the wine. Golden yellow hue, fine mousse. Fresh nose of dried fruit (apricot) with a hint of citrus. Smooth palate from the Meunier. Vibrant and balanced with fruity flavors of white peach and citrus. Lovely aromatic finish.
