Tenuta Viglione is a family-owned, certified organic estate founded in the 19th century in Puglia, Italy run by Giovanni Zullo and his children. He is the fourth generation owner. This is 100% Primitivo, which is the same grape as California's Zinfandel, which actually originates from Croatia, where it is known as Tribidrag. Aged 24 months in stainless steel and 30% in both large and small barrels. Mid-crimson in color, this Primitivo showcases scents of fruity red berries and slightly black sour cherry and plum with some spicy and balsamic notes. A perfect balance of smoothness, freshness and minerality. There are some soft tannins, a nice full-bodied warmness. Great with spicy foods and barbecue.
